Cindy Thompson

Cindy Thompson and her husband Ted (mentioned in previous post), moved to Cokeville in 1990. Soon after they moved, they both found themselves heavily involved in the Cokeville Rodeo.

Cindy became the first secretary of the newly formed Cokeville Stock & Saddle Club where she not only took care of those duties, but was the timer, took the entries, and made up the program. In addition to all of those responsibilities, she helped out with the royalty pageant for a few years. All in all, Cindy Thompson was involved with the rodeo in one capacity or another for nearly 10 years.

Cindy talked about loving working alongside her husband Ted. She loved Ted’s enthusiasm for the rodeo and the way he dropped his voice and yelled out, “Let’s Rodeo!”

She also loved timing the events, with her favorite (of course) being the Barrel Racing. And her favorite part of the rodeo was watching the cowboys and cowgirls get ready for their rides. She mentioned one particular cowgirl who was a huge fan favorite, who rode Bareback AND Bulls for several years. This young cowgirl always got the crowd and fellow contestants cheering!

Thompson Land & Livestock was where Cindy dedicated her time and talents. She loved riding with her “girls”: Mary, April and Tracy.

Cindy is currently retired and living in Lolo, Montana, and loving every minute of it.

What a different event the Cokeville Rodeo would have been without amazing veterans like Cindy and Ted Thompson. We Remember many good times with them, and send Cindy all of our love as she lives it up in Montana.
