Douglas Prows, Sr.
If you’re ever in a pinch, or are needing a person to show up who has all the tools, equipment, and ideas of how to be an effective helper…may I suggest giving Douglas Prows, Sr. a call?
When talking to Janet about Doug, she spoke of many little things that he has done for countless years. Similar to his son, Doug Sr. has spent the majority of his years of Cokeville Rodeo service behind the scenes (or chutes in this case). Like many others we have highlighted thus far, Doug was around far before the Cokeville Stock & Saddle Club was formed in the early 90s. Not only did he assist with the arena maintenance and upkeep, but he and his wife cooked in the concessions trailer for 15+ years.
When the club was formed, naturally Doug was right there helping to dig post holes, install gates and chutes, and mend anything that needing fixing.
Janet also shared with us that Doug helped round up pigs and chickens for the kids’ chases; hauling them in the family car to make sure they made it on time to the rodeo.
Conveniently, Doug and Janet are located right across the street from the rodeo grounds, so he always keeps an eye on the place when no one else is around. And to this day (quite literally in the case of the above picture), if we need any help, Doug will be there to lend a hand or two. Speaking of lending…Doug is the ultimate “lender.” He will lend out tools, knowledge, or whatever is within his means to help those that are trying to help others.
I hope we all can be a little more like Douglas Prows, Sr., and always be willing to give service or render aid whenever it is needed. Doug, we remember so many instances where you have helped out at the Cokeville Rodeo or individuals in need. Thank you my friend, for so many years of service.
