Joe Mackey

Joe Mackey, born and raised in Cokeville, has always had a love of rodeo. He competed in PRCA for 5 years. He made it in the Mountain States Circuit Finals and won the “Rookie of the Year” in 1997 at “The Daddy of Them All” - Cheyenne Frontier Days. He also enjoys roping but doesn’t get much time for that anymore. He is busy running his daughters to barrel races, rodeos, and horse shows.

He is now married to his beautiful wife, Kasey, and together they have 4 amazing daughters who are actively involved with the great sport of rodeo — from stick horse barrels, queening, all the way to running barrels in Texas at the Jr. American.

Joe was the president of the Cokeville Stock & Saddle Club two different times. He would often donate his tractor and arena worker. He wanted all contestants to have the best ground they could. While president, he was able to get a grant from his job (Williams Field Service) to purchase the first set of electric eyes, which are still being used today. He would spend countless hours getting sponsors for both the open and junior rodeos. He wanted a buckle rewarded to each event in the junior rodeo for winning.

Joe loves seeing all the kids trying the sport of rodeo. He believes that the youth are our future and wants them to have as many and the best opportunities they can.

Joe and his family have Cameron, Jaylynn (CT Rodeo/ stock contractor), bull fighters, judges and their families over every year after each rodeo for dinner, roping, watching fireworks, and just enjoying everyone’s company. There have been a few years that someone would end up staying in their camper due to room shortage at the motel.

We love you dad! Thank you for your example to us, and teaching us that if you want something you have to work for it.

Love Hailey, Harley, Halley, and Hazley.

*Story contributed by Hailey, Harley, Halley & Hazley, Joe’s daughters

These stories that have been coming in from daughters about their mother or father are melting our hearts. There is nothing better than a beautifully written tribute by the people who matter most to us — the people for whom we are sacrificing our time, year after year.

Joe and Kasey, you both gave and served and continue to serve by driving your daughters all over the country to live out their dreams. What a beautiful sacrifice you make for them, and amazing contribution you gifted to our community.

We Remember the gifts you shared with the Cokeville Rodeo, and we give you our heartfelt thanks.
