Nicholas Dayton
Nick Dayton has grown up helping with the Cokeville Rodeo. Since he was little, he absolutely loved being a part of anything that involved horses. And anyone that knows Nick, knows he is synonymous with the term “cowboy.”
Nick started carrying the American Flag for the rodeo when he was 14 years old with his friend Candace Bird. After doing that for a few years, the “iconic flag duo” emerged with Nick and his beautiful mother, Tam, proudly carrying the colors each year for the rodeo. So many of our memories of the rodeo have Nick solidly in them, carrying the flag with his sweet mama.
Nick’s mom and dad (Ed) originally carried the flag for many years together, but his dad was happy to give up his spot for Nick to help Tam.
Not only did Nick carry the flag during the 24th celebrations, he was also a pickup man during the rodeos for many years. He did a great job and his family loved to be there supporting him in his endeavors.
Finally, Nick competed in stock saddle and any and all roping events.
He’s been known to give a hand wherever it was needed — whether it was in the arena, working a gate, or coaching his niece when she wanted to try barrel racing.
We absolutely want to thank Nick’s family for his nomination into our Cokeville Rodeo Honorees. It is SO deserved, and we are honored to include his name among our crew of rodeo legends.
Thank you Nick. 🙏🏽
